What is the significance when God gives the church a ‘Word for the Year’?
The year 2020 has started with a Bang! You are probably already running full steam ahead and the kids are back to school. You have started following your New Year’s resolutions and things are looking better than last year.
But what has God said to the church about 2020? What is God’s Word for 2020? In every church the Lord gives us a Word for the specific year we are entering into. This Word is very significant: It will guide and direct your congregation in the specific path that God has ordained for you this year. This Word is always the Word that will give you the ability to reach the goals God set for you for this year. With it you can counter every setback and propel your church and your life into success for the year. Whenever it looks like things are going off track – speak out loud the ‘Word for the Year’ you received and soon enough your will find things getting on track again.
The ‘Word for the year’ is such a blessing to the church. Since it is a prophetic Word from God for the year, it actually is a tool, a weapon of warfare, by which the church can win spiritual battles with. We know this principle from what the Apostle Paul wrote to Pastor Timothy: 1 Timothy 1:18 “This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;”. With the ‘Word for the Year’ the Lord guarantees you success over every challenge, since your ‘Word for the Year’ will overcome every mountain that life might bring before you this year.
Therefore, this year, keep in remembrance the ‘Word for the Year’ and when we get to the middle of the year or end of the year, keep on proclaiming it in the spirit realm and surely you will reach every goal that God has set before you.

The key Scriptures for the year are:
Gen 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
Gen 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
Pastor Chris made it clear that perfection is possible. Pastor Chris taught that perfection is God’s desire for His children, and as such is not only achievable but it is the nature of the Christian.
In addition to the opening scriptures, Pastor Chris highlighted Job 1:1 and 8 among other scriptures, pointing to Noah, Abraham and Job as people from whom the Lord demanded perfection and credited with the same. Pastor Chris also read from Ephesians 5:1 and Luke 8:14, before stating four important things in perfection: Alignment; Completeness; Excellence; and, Fruition. “Until you believe in perfection, you will never practice it, but in 2020, you’ll love and practice perfection,” he said.
Pastor Chris then prayed for every nation of the world and for every sick person, declaring God’s Divine healing upon them. He also proclaimed blessings on the global congregation, to establish them in God’s perfect will for them in 2020. What a remarkable way to begin the New Year.
Pastor Joseph Prince
Nuus News. Asia/USA. The very faith-filled Pastor Joseph Prince of Joseph Prince Ministries and Grace Revolution Church also has some great reminders for you as you start 2020. He says, “Start your new year right with a confident expectation of God’s blessings!“
In another post he states:
“As you step into this brand-new year, be confident that our Lord Jesus has gone before you and already prepared blessings for you (Ps. 139:5). No matter what comes your way, remember to believe that you are under an open heaven of His abundant supply and protected under the shadow of His wings. Praying this truth will guard your heart every day of 2020 and that you will see an increase of His favor, peace, and anointing on you and on all that you do set your hands to in the days ahead!”
Dr Able Akpanke
Nuus News. South Africa. Closer to home, Dr Able Akpanke, Senior Pastor of The Christ Life Commission Church in Kempton Park Johannesburg announced that 2020 will be “The Year of the Harvest”.
He cited verses from Joel chapter 2 as key Scriptures for the year:
Joe 2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
Joe 2:24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.
Joe 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
In this year the dry season will end, in the first month God will send the former and the latter rain and He will keep the devourer far from His people and take His people’s shame away and for all the years the canker worms had eaten, God will give a harvest in 2020.

20/20 Refers to perfect physical eye sight vision. However spiritual vision is the focus.
He quotes “All things are possible to him that believes”.
Pastor explains that you will see life and breakthrough if you are in the Word of God in 2020. The prophet Isaiah, in his vision of himself, was aware of his sinfulness and needed Divine help to get cleansed. But Pastor says because God has already cleansed you, you can now stand in God’s righteousness and have a “20/20” vision (a perfect vision), for the new year!

Their dreams shall be dashed, their desires shall be wounded, and they will be removed from their offices and replaced, some by the ballot, some by tragedy, and some who in despair will quit and go do something else.”

It was founded by people who love Me for the sole purpose of their love and desire to worship Me and to worship the Almighty God, and I will never forget that.
