TELKOM GRATIS TOEGANG TOT TERSIËRE WEBSITES - Goeie Nuus
Telkom het gister bekend gemaak dat dit toegang tot opvoedkundige webwerwe gratis sal bied, sowel as vir webwerwe wat die inligting gee oor die COVID-19-coronavirus.
Opvoedkundige webwerwe met ‘n nulkoers bestaan hoofsaaklik uit die webwerwe vir opvoedkundige fasiliteite van universiteite en kolleges.
Telkom doen dit om hierdie onderwysinstellings te help om hul leer- en onderrigprosesse voort te sit – indien fisiese klasse gekanselleer word weens die uitbraak van die coronavirus.
Telkom bied ook ‘n gratis toegang tot amptelike webwerwe vir koronavirus op sy netwerk – insluitend die Nasionale Instituut vir Oordraagbare Siektes en webwerwe van die SA regering (The National Institute for Communicable Diseases en SA Government).
“Ons glo dat die pandemie oorkom kan word as ons saamwerk en sorg dat Suid-Afrikaners toegang kry tot akkurate inligting oor die virus,” het Mooketsi Mocumi, woordvoerder van Telkom, gesê.
Wits werk saam met Vodacom en MTN
Die Universiteit van die Witwatersrand (Wits) bespreek ook vorming-vennootskappe met Telkom, Vodacom en MTN om studente toegang tot data te gee terwyl universiteite gesluit is weens die koronavirus-uitbraak.
Dit is deel van die universiteit se planne om na aanlyn-onderrig en -leer oor te skakel indien die nood sou ontstaan.
“Ons het nog twee weke tot drie weke om die situasie tov die koronavirus te beoordeel. Ons moet bepaal wat die omvang van hierdie pandemie gaan wees voordat ons toepaslike optrede vir die land as geheel bepaal, ”het Habib gesê.

TELKOM FREE ACCESS TO TERTIARY WEBSITES - Good News
Telkom yesterday publisized it will zero-rate data access to educational websites as well as those that provide information the population about the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Zero-rated educational websites primarily comprise the educational facility websites of universities and colleges.
Telkom is doing this to assist these educational institutions to continue their learning and teaching processes – even if physical classes must be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Telkom has also zero-rated official coronavirus information sites on its network – including The National Institute for Communicable Diseases and SA Government websites.
“We believe that the pandemic can be overcome if we work together and ensure that South Africans are empowered with access to accurate information about the virus,” said Telkom spokesperson Mooketsi Mocumi.
Wits partners with Vodacom and MTN
The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) is also discussing forming –partnerships with Telkom, Vodacom, and MTN to give students data access while universities are closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
This is part of the university’s plans to move to online teaching and learning should the need arise.
“We have at least another two weeks to three weeks to assess the coronavirus situation. We have to determine what the scale of this pandemic is going to be before we determine appropriate actions for the country as a whole,” Habib said.
